Dana Buoy covers Fleetwood Mac

While crafting a Selector feature for us (running later in the month), Dana Buoy joked of covering Neneh Cherry's “Buffalo Stance”. It prompted us suggest he stop talking about it and be about it. He took us up on the challenge, but conceded to leave “Buffalo Stance” to Neneh.

We would have been bummed had Dana not smoothed things over with an auto-tuned cover of Fleetwood Mac's 1987 single “Everywhere”. We like to think that while the Akron/Family drummer turned soloist recorded his take on a Christine McVie classic, he was giving the middle finger to a framed photo of T-Pain propped on a stool in the vocal booth. Buoy's cover feels like a momentous occasion, a feeling owed to McVie's romantic declarations and Buoy's bursting vocals. It just sounds like a track you tune to on the FM dial, while you're nestled up in a blanket watching fireworks boom to Buoy's “whooa-ohhs”.

It should also be noted that the “Everywhere” cover was played for my dad, a Fleetwood fan since day one who's never shy to state he'll take Christine over Stevie any day, and that he approved. It should also be noted this cover has nothing to do with Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute To Fleetwood Mac.
