Adult Swim remixes ATL
» Finally Adult Swim satisfied our aching curiosity as to what Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman would sound like over trendy producers like Flying Lotus and HEALTH.
It takes a lot of weed to understand the Adult Swim humor. Too much of the sticky green and Adult Swim can be downright terrifying. Have you ever watched Xavier: Renegade Angel? As weird as AS gets visually, their musical taste is hipster refined with albums from Definitive Jux, Ghostly International, Africa and MF Doom.
News of the ATL RMX record was hardly a surprise. The surprise is that it's decent. Naturally, the record has moments of questionable collaboration; there's something uncomfortably gentrified in having EL-P and Spank Rock's Armani XXXchange remix Young Jeezy and Cee Lo. Adult Swim brought together some of music's most talented remixers and made even the crunkest and corniest of ATL rap songs listeneable. I still have no plans of ever listening to an actual Shawty Lo song, but I always appreciate when Girl Talk or Prefuse 73 are able to make it tolerable.
