Bueno, “Blown Out”

Bueno‘s bio boasts, “Bueno lead man Luke Chiaruttini first met Mikey Gagliardi, who plays guitar and sax, on a bus ride home from Catholic school. Mikey threw his shoe at Luke’s head, and then kindly asked for Luke to give it back. It was one of the many quiet rebellions that Mikey, Luke, Joe Imburgio (bass), AJ Pantaleo (drums), and Mike DiBenedetto (guitar) would engage in throughout their adolescent years growing up and fucking up in Staten Island.” Well, based off of that, I feel like I know them already.

Their latest offering is a track called, “Blown Out,” off of their upcoming record, Illuminate Your Room.” This is a mid-tempo jam that Chiaruttini says is about “the pain of nostalgia and what comes from a sensory overload when a too-strong sun or decrepit American infrastructure triggers oppressive memories to come flooding back. The memories don’t come back intact but as disjointed glimpses of the past that we reconstruct as narrative later.” The guitar is soothing, and the drums compliment it perfectly. The narrative keeps you engaged from start to finish, and this song is just captivating as a whole.
