Well, dummies, it's that time of year again. Just as you're packing away your swim trunks and sharpening up those golden Ticonderogas, CMJ hits like a trash bag filled with bricks to the sternum. As if October weren't already a big enough month for releases (thanks, Obama), New York's week-long music festival shows up to remind you that you thought you knew cool bands, but you don't. Here's your chance to prove your college boyfriend wrong while also catching the newest new music and staying out way past your bedtime on a high of PBR and American Spirits. Keep your checkbook handy and take notes—these bands could change your life.

Of course, we know you'll be joining us on Thursday and Saturday, but as Brooklyn's most trusted arbiter of good taste, Impose presents you with all the shows worth catching, if you'll bum us an American Spirit.
