Fat Tony

Throwing money all around with our friend Fat Tony; photographed by James Thomas Marsh, Paul Des Marais & JAH video.

Third Ward raised & LA based (and seemingly everywhere geographically right now); Fat Tony continues on an impressive streak that is impossible to keep up with. From releasing what seems like a new single every week, collaborating with virtually everyone in the entire industry, working in fashion, a variety of mediums—Tony presents a look at the James Thomas Marsh, Paul Des Marais & JAH video for the lively track “Money All Around” featured off the recent full-length MacGregor Park. With production supplied by Kweku Saunderson, the luxurious & exuberant life celebrated in rhyme & rhythm is brought to the screen where Fat Tony & friends can been literally throwing currency everywhere while embracing aspirations of moving upward in the world.
The James Thomas Marsh visual for Fat Tony’s track “Money All Around” plays out the rags to riches narrative of the lyrics & the popping slaps from Kweku Saunderson where champagne dreams & caviar wishes come true. From the market scenes, to celebrating with the crew in the jacuzzi & dancing in the streets (and on top of candy & toy machines); Fat Tony takes the spirit of rising up to the next level by sharing that upbeat sense of exhilaration in an over the top manner. The energy becomes infectious as everyone surrounds Tony to partake in the celebratory occasion that is even more magnanimous than the started from the bottom now we’re here adage. Bottle corks are popped & the currency paper is flying about like loose-leaf as Fat Tony’s reflections on where he’s come from, where he’s been & where he’s going to is turned into a joyous occasion that is worthy of being an international holiday.
Fat Tony provided the following exclusive foreword for the new visual:

The “Money All Around” video lampoons the gaudiness many people believe is essential imagery for a successful rapper. Throwing money around, white girls in a pool, etc. The whole thing is tongue in cheek. Truly the song is about becoming financially stable from your passion. Not insanely rich but definitely not depressingly broke. Just well off enough to live comfortably and continue the lifestyle you’ve chosen.

Fat Tony’s lauded album MacGregor Park is available now.
