Knoxville's Cool Runnings have exotic locales on the mind. It's Babes Forever EP pulls heavily from west coast vibrations, in fact nothing about this band suggests it's from the South. For a band of Southern gentlemen, they sure do know how to do tasteful California alt-nudity. Its Babes Forever EP cover art features some tanned pelt doing a rather difficult skating maneuver. Sure, we're wildly fascinated with the art, but we're scholarly like that. Cool Runnings is more than a band with a rad name and album art work. "Tripping Balls at Der Wienerschnitzel" mixes the jangly with the fuzzy synth of afrobeat and the result is an infectious jam about getting denied a ride home from Weinerschnitzel because you're too fucking loony - reminds me of many a Cali-nights.

In stupid slag news, the Hipster Grifter meme is experiencing the brutal beatdown of gravity in more ways than one. Clinging to relevance by flashing her chesticles, she might have a future in posing if those titties didn't frown. She just never got it. Fame does not come from shamelessly flashing - no one ever got a movie deal after a Girls Gone Wild appearance. It is acquired by unwittingly revealing. Whether its an improper exiting of a limousine, not grasping the concept of shear and flashbulbs, or just being too numb from percocet and silicon to feel a slipping spaghetti strap, these blindside exhibitions are the little triggers that excite our deepest voyeuristic urges.
I look at the Hipster Grifter photos and think, its only a matter of time before these things look like kick balls in garbage bags or I wonder if I can see nip through her friend's dress or cringe at the waste of ink that is her swan chest tattoo. The ultimate cringe comes from trying to understand how a person can habitually put themselves in the spotlight as the poster child for daddy issues.
