Bird Names, "Taxicabs and Bicycles"
»
It's pretty awesome that "Taxi Cabs and Biccycles" is the track that Chicago's Bird Names has chosen to make their lead-off leak-it-where-you-will track off their upcoming album Sings the Browns. With the flimsy, trebly opening melody and the damaged flute scales descending in and out like some lost 70s sitcom melody, along with a half-time breakdown that would sound like honky-tonk if it were played with horns or organs instead of guitars that sound like they're coming through an AM radio station, this is broken, crunchy, beautifully weird stuff. We already said they were on our best of 2009 list, so enjoy this track, too.
