Freddie Gibbs, Str8 Killa No Filla

Freddie Gibbs could not have been more on point with the titling of his new mixtape. I'm only five songs into Str8 Killa No Filla and it's god damn impressive how hungry Gibbs remains in spite of the media nut hugging.

“National Anthem (Fuck The World)” crawls in, as though it's going to disrupt the head pounding start to Str8 Killa, but Gibbs wouldn't allow us to sleep on him, as he doubles up his bars just as his verse switches up from woes of no hope in the ghettos to an altered game plan of rapping his way out.

Gibbs told me this tape would “shit on most of these nigga's albums”, but I never expected to discard my Big Boi and Curren$y records before the end of July. I would keep writing about the uncut raw of Str8 Killa, but it's high time I burn a CD-R and cruise around to the heavy knock of “Born 2 Roll,” which if you listen below, you'll understand why this slow ride session needs to happen with a quickness.
