Greenhouse, Electric Purgatory: Part Two
» Part Two is just as cold and synth-strong as the first, but Aesop Rock makes it icier.
Blueprint and Illogic follow-up last year's Electric Purgatory: Part One with Part Two, which is grimier and reunites Printmatic with Aesop Rock on a track.
Let's take a trip back to when you first heard "Alchemy" off Aesop Rock's Daylight EP. How ill was that first listen? Those heavy cymbals crashed, while Blueprint talked smack during the build up, leading into a career-defining moment as he opened up his style to introduce fans to Blueprint's new approach.
Eight years later, Blueprint is still a shit-talking extraordinaire on tracks and he's brought Illogic along for the hazing of wack emcees. Electric Purgatory: Part Two dropped as a free download this week and it's a full clip of synth-strong burners that sounds as though Greenhouse only raps from tundras. It's as though the duo took the foundation of "Cold Out Here" off Part One and built an igloo studio to inspire the sounds for Part Two. "Hello World" bats lead off with two verses that, if you listen carefully are loosely associated to Nas verses off Illmatic.
"Keep It Live" is keeper of easily the most animated Aesop Rock verse I've heard as he dip dip dives through references to the People's Elbow and Shark Week.
