As you float from venue to venue during Northside, we suggest stopping by The SilentBarn on Saturday June 14 to attend Grrrl Fest. According to its organizers, “Grrrl Fest is about supporting and empowering females (girls and women and anyone who identifies as such) in whatever it is that they do.” The day-long festival boasts a jam-packed lineup that includes Pottymouth, Fleabite, Palehound, Shellshag, among others. Daytime activities include crafts, dancing, book sale, art sale, zine sale, t-shirt making, jewelry making, glitter tattoos, tarot cards, poetry, a silent auction, and more. The event is sponsored by The Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, Tom Tom Magazine, BUST Magazine, The Center for Arts Education, CHiPS, The Beacon School, Bennington College, Planned Parenthood, Bluestockings, The Lower East Side Girls Clubs, PBS “Makers” film series, and more. Whew, that's a lot of names! But the most humbling part of all is that many of the organizers are still in high school, proving that Grrrl Fest is an inspiring promise for a positive future.

Tickets for Grrrl Fest may be purchased for $8 online or at the door for $10.
