Hhappiness, "Right as Rain"
» The Stockholm band's poppy exterior gives way to a gooey psychedelic center.
The 7-inch about to be released by Stockholm's Hhappiness on French label Almost Musique is in a printed sleeve slathered with a Pucci-eque pattern, a traditional marker of extreme psychedelia. But the band's sound is not the '60s Seeds-esque sound you might be expecting, but instead a bright, complex tone-changer reminiscent of Pavement, or more recently, Brooklyn's Woods. "Right as Rain", the B-Side, sounds rather simple at first listen, but it is struck through with dashes and specks and comet trails of percussion and synths, making it a marbled and deep listen, and eventually morphing it through an epic bridge that makes you feel like you are listening to a completely different song.
As a bonus, here's a so-so video for another track on the 7-inch, called "Bananas". The track is worth listening to.
