Listen: 50 Foot Women

By Blake Gillespie » 50 Foot Women formed (met) on a street in San Francisco over an affinity for "fine liquor, bad men, and good records." While Jessi Leigh Swenson remains a resident of the foggy city, Elaine Kahn went back to the Midwest to pursue her poetry. The collaboration continues regardless.

With a release on Ecstatic Yod Tapes, they toured last summer on the Byron Coley-curated "No More Bush" tour with Karl Bauer (Axolotl) and Meg Clixby (Duck, Sondulla, Bottoms Up) backing the duo.

Their primitive noise tests the refractory range of kaleidescopic sound two distorted vocals can generate, all while thumping along at a ragged, some might say possessed clip.
