Shahs

Shahs

Shahs is the project of one Tom Helgerson, a dude from Minneapolis who appears not to be some product of self-sequestered isolation so much as a solo musician with friends in people from Vampire Hands and To Kill A Petty Bourgeoisie. While "Loose Ends" veers more towards the destructo-territory of outsider beats like Russian Tsarlag, the tracks stands beside "Handreader," a song that also has a crunchy backing rhythm track but reveals a proclivity for silkier melodies and carnival chord voicings straight outta Sparrow. There's a lot of beach and sun trending through the music waves these days, but Shahs' is on its own trajectory, and let's hope he stays on it.
