Members of Hot Chip, This Heat form About Group

A recipe for success, via press photo

Ever since we found out that The Traveling Wilburys were actually comprised of members of Velvet Revolver, we've been skeptical about "supergroups." But what if the purpose of the group was to record as much music as possible in a single day, playing only the parts that immediately and organically arose at the time?

Such is the impetus behind the unfortunately named About Group, consisting of Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Charles Hayward (This Heat), John Coxon (Spring Heel Jack), and Pat Thomas. After improvising at a few festival dates, the band came together at Abbey Road studios for a single day to record Start and Complete, which will be released courtesy of Domino Records on April 26.

Below is a taste of the band's first single "You're No Good," and frankly it's encouraging to see disparate musicians come together for the hell of playing music (i.e. The Desert Sessions).
