If only it really were Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass about to usher in a one-off collaboration with the Man in Black, who's standing there with his back to the audience, guitar slung round his shoulders about to swerve around quick to talk in his gravelly voice about being everywhere, twice, when suddenly there's Hamilton Leithauser and later on those tell-tale winsome electric guitars twinkling from the other side of a big ol' New York warehouse peeking through the sad brass tune and you start to wonder, if we're going to call some band worthy of carrying on into their forties, fifties, sixties, why not these guys?
This is the first tune to leak from The Walkmen's next full-length, Lisbon, out September 14 on Fat Possum.
