Ah, yes. Another reunion. 90s/00s legend and noted bizarro recluse Jeff Mangum announced today that the In the Aeroplane Over the Sea-era formation of Neutral Milk Hotel will in fact reunite for a tour this fall. So far the band has only announced a few Southern dates and two shows in Asia, but we get the feeling that there will be more rolling in in the vein of large festivals, outdoor shit, and Coachella365. The dates are below and proceeds from the tour will be donated to the Children of the Blue Sky charity, an organization that benefits Mongolian street children. Oh, Mangum. Always keeping us on our toes.
Though the news reeks of desperate times/desperate measures, it must be noted that upon watching unearthed footage of the original NMH performing in a basement in Georgia shot by Lance Bangs, this is a reunion that actually could be worth seeing.
