New Daedelus

Daedelus is a weird dude. His dress and haircut is that of a British gentleman of the 1890s, but his music seeks refuge in the Low End Theory club. His latest record is a balance of the conflicting styles.

Righteous Fists of Harmony is named after a group of Chinese resistance fighters, who claimed to have magical powers that would give them superhuman strength against British Imperial soldiers. Never bring magic powers to a gun fight. The Righteous Fists of Harmony took a severe beating, but the British empire fell eventually – proving with enough passage of time, nobody is a winner.

Daedelus sees a connection between this rebellion story and our own modern conundrums. Perhaps listening to this record in full will unveil these connections, but for now the song “Order of the Golden Dawn” featuring the vocals of Laura Darling is all we have to judge this record's plot. While I am at a loss as to what Chinese warriors have to do with my reliance on technology, I'm convinced Laura Darling is a siren. Her serene croon is an overseer of the battle, calling the rising eastern sun to break the horizon.

Righteous Fists of Harmony out March 22 on Brainfeeder.
