In the annals of blogs pumping out their own records, No Pain in Pop's been ahead of the game since 2008, with some hefty names under their belt and great choices along the way.

This latest one sounds about right.

Incontrovertibly chill, Bathcrones is the solo project of Atlanta's Matthew Jackson Johnson and is up for grabs at No Pain in Pop.

The blog promises this stuff to be “sweltering Balearic borne drum-pop as weighty as a Tropic of Cancer sunset. Sounds from the cupped breast of Ra in the 10th Summer of Love.”

We're hearing an undulating Lucky Dragons trip on the preview track “Damselfly” and straight techno warm up exercises on the other one, “My Love Wilma”. Hopefully that second one's a Flinstone's reference and the video consists of appropriated cut up footage of the classic animated series from Hanna Barbera, maybe Fred Flinstone returning home from work in slow motion to convey the ennui of prehistoric caveman leisure time.
