The new tape from Minneapolis/New York trio Beat Detectives is 19 tracks of blissful space-haze. The cassette, which is available for purchase on Moon Glyph, is called Casual Encounters of the Third Kind and it pulses and throbs with homemade beats, indecipherable lyrics, bassy thumps, and the occasional slice of a raw guitar lick. The band has self-described this latest release as “less Ibiza, more Nissan Ultima.” We couldn't agree more.

There are two tracks available to stream on their SoundCloud and both of them encompass a raw, digital look at layering beats and firy tones. There are synth splashes on “Can U Feel It” that are as grimey and shiny as a metal blade in moonlight. And in “Deep Web”, we get a rare glimpse at what darkness under the surface can occur between alternating red-and-yellow layers of wire. Also known as the DEEP WEB. Take a listen to these tracks below.
