BIG MUFF RADIO, “Out of Time”

Vaporwave is dead, according to vaporwave itself. But shades of vaporwave live on, in syrupy loungefunk, in photoshopped palm trees, in synthesizer and heavy vocal processing tracks everywhere. BIG MUFF RADIO, the solo project of Cretin Stompers frontman Nick Noto and named after the famous guitar pedal, is not quite vaporwave—it’s fun hooky pop, pitched way up—but it’s definitely in the same ocean.

The new BMR album, Life is Easy, will be available digitally and on cassette on January 27 via Gigawatts Records. The cassette’s B-side will feature the Noto-curated “COPPP’D N SKEWWW’D” mixtape. BIG MUFF RADIO will celebrate the new release at Baby’s All Right on January 31 with Slonk Donkerson and Sofa Club.
