Big Sister, “Let's Go Fly A Kite”

The 90s resurgence may be in full swing, but we've been seeing a lot of bands referencing the likes of Built to Spill, Pavement, Polvo, and other staples birthed out of American soil. This time around, we've got three Brit greats as the basis of Big Sister's foundation—Blur, The Stone Roses, and Oasis (though less so with the Gallagher brothers)—and it's like a cool water washing over us, or actually more like a lukewarm beer. With Big Sister's latest cassette release, a stunning and blown-out two-piecer, “Let's Go Fly A Kite” b/w “Step Outside”, there is certaintly no shortage of reverbed riffs or extra-hidden and slacker-shallow vocals. Add that on to an overbearing sense of musical ennui that floats through the shoegazey vibe, and you've got yourself two tracks that bliss themselves out like the best of Blur in their height.

Take a listen to “Let's Go Fly A Kite” below, then pick up the cassette with it's B-side single through Crocodile Records here.
