Bridges – ‘Maths, Science & English’

BRIDGES announce EP with new single ‘Maths, Science & English’

Alt rock with a tender side, is how we’d describe Bridges’ new single. Invigorated by a recent line up change, the Bristol based 4-piece are known for creating transatlantic, guitar driven music – hard hitting songs that are honest and heartfelt. ‘Maths, Science & English’ sees them explore some harder edged instrumentation whilst retaining a melancholic vocal delivery from front man Ethan.

With the track they also announce their up-coming EP entitled ‘On And On Like This’ (out 27th September, also on Rose Coloured Records), the release marks the beginning of a busy period for the band as they step out on tour across the UK throughout October and November.

We’re told that ‘Maths, Science and English’ is a song about moving on, but not forgetting what means the most to you. There’s a balance of rawness and honesty that makes their music relatable, taking lead from acts like Pinegrove, Frightened Rabbit and Phoebe Bridgers in this approach. Ethan explains:

“I wrote Maths when I’d moved back to my hometown for a while. I’d realised that I had lost touch with a few friends, and somewhat my family, where I had been away. That period in time I remember being a bit of a roller coaster. Though it seems like a dark sentiment at first glance, to me it feels quite the opposite; something I could say to remind the people important to me.”

Excelling on the road, they have already supported George Ezra, We Were Promised Jetpacks, All Tvvins and The Coronas, have played numerous sold out headlining shows this year as well as a slot at Wilderness Festival this August and have previously played slots at Glastonbury and Leeds festivals.
