Caged Animals, “Wildflowers”

Jersey-born, Brooklyn-based songwriter Vincent Cacchione has assembled a family band under the moniker Caged Animals. Let’s give credit where credit is due, and introduce the rest of the band – sister Talya, partner Magali Charron, and childhood friend Patrick Curry. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of “Wildflowers”, the first track from the band’s upcoming album.

“I wrote Wildflowers a couple months after the birth of my daughter Alaska,” explains Cacchione.  “My mind was swimming with nature.  Becoming a parent made me understand something about the power of each individual.  How we transcend our humble beginnings and make our live’s meaningful.”

The song allows you to get inside Cacchione’s head, with its crisp, light as air feel. Cacchione’s voice in the track is very “Ben”. (We’re thinking that delicate Ben Kweller meets Ben Gibbard meets Ben Folds sound.) It’s a song about acquiring a sense of self. It’s very personal, yet relatable. The layering of the track gets more intricate as time goes on, and it’s the most beautifully touching song we have heard in quite a while.
