Cambatta And Black Magik, "The Holy Ghost"

Post Author: Andre G

Cambatta has been steadily feeding us with one-offs for the better part of 2017, enlightening his fans with provocative rhymes that let have us know he’s keeping his sword sharp. Last Friday, Cambatta decided to drop a bigger gift, with the The Holy Ghost EP. The six track project is a collaboration between Cambatta and producer Black Magik who is better known for his BlackMagik363 YouTube channel.
Holy Ghost is Black Magik’s first project, but it surely doesn’t sound like it. He crafted a range of mysterious soundscapes which ideally fit Cambatta’s labyrinthic lyricism and intense flow. Throughout the project, Cambatta makes no bones about his spiritual truths and his belief that “earth a thot her twat is rotten,” as he rhymed on album opener “Black Magic.” He explores the world’s fear of Black men on “X,” and portrays the holy son with lines like “I’m impervious to pain, I’mma sleep through the crucifixion” on the stirring “Mesus.”
Magik’s sonics and Cambatta’s fit well no matter the vibe, whether it’s the tempered, sinister “Goat,” or the trap-leaning burners “She God (Good)” and “Mayweather,” where Cambatta plays with a rapid fire flow. The two showcase an impressive chemistry that we’re eager to hear on future work.
