Coining themselves as a “Spaghetti Western Post-Punk Dance Party,” Chick Quest entrances its listeners with spooky riffs and beach worthy pop tracks. Hailing from Vienna, Austria, the four-piece takes conventional punk and turns it on its head. With members Ryan White (vocals, guitar), Iris Rauh (drums), Marcus Racz (trumpet, keyboard), and Magdalena Kraev (bass), Chick Quest explores the outer limits of music, dabbling between a Clint Eastwood outtake and a Sleater Kinney demo.

On their latest track, “Down in a Crypt,” the foursome invites the grim reaper to jam along, as they paint the image of getting funky in the morgue. A Monster Mash-esque organ riff brings to mind thoughts of vampires and witches, accompanied by heavy guitar and roaring vocals. Part of their upcoming sophomore, Model View Controller, Chick Quest gives us a preview of what’s to come, and it’s sure to be bone-chilling.

Model View Controller is out February 24th via Triangular Sounds.
