Cross Culture, "Faded Away"

International collective Cross Culture has made a name in New York City by showcasing an eclectic hip-hop fusion, led by MC Saidu Ezike and vocalist Nemiss. The two have showcased an excellent chemistry on previous singles “Leap Frog Loverz” and “Dearest Mother,” a connection no doubt bolstered through their marriage. The band is preparing their debut album Majesty for August, and are premiering their new single, “Faded Away” with us today.
The rock-influenced track rides a rabid guitar groove as Ezike rhymes rapid-fire about his past relationships. The song has been described as a “chronological step back” from the group’s previous singles, as relationships from Ezike’s past fester to the service and explode over the surging composition.
Of the track, he says, “memories of my exes come back to haunt me in my current life and I realize how much of mistake it was staying in a tumultuous relationship.”
Luckily for him, and Cross Culture’s fans, he found a better love, and he’s able to reflect on those past mistakes in one piece.
The group is one of the acts performing at Brooklyn’s National Sawdust on July 29th as part of The Revolution, a series showcasing upcoming Brooklyn and Harlem-based musicians. You can listen to “Faded Away” below.
