Das Racist dropped its Sit Down, Man mixtape as a follow up to March's Shut Up, Man, we're taking a stab at Racist's next tape being called Ease Back, Hombre.
Das Racist won the hearts of many with “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell” and earned its stripes in hip hop activism by battling a Sasha Frere-Jones article with lengthy discourse and a haiku. The group even introduced a new battle format to the culture with its cartoon battle against The New Yorker cartoonist Farley Katz. All in all the career arc of Das Racist is beyond typical and its latest mixtape continues down that uncharted path.
Sit Down, Man features production from Diplo, Boi-1da, Scoop Deville, Chairlift and Teengirl Fantasy, which is easily one of the most diverse lists we've written. In addition to the producers, El-P, Despot and Roc Marciano make rap appearances. The group is eight million stories above its fledgling days of “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell”.
