Desert, “Camins”

Barcelona duo Cristina Checa and Eloi Caballé may be based out of the beautiful city in Spain, but the music that they make under the moniker Desert is more appropriate for an outerspace landscape, something you could imagine getting play on Tatooine. The debut track from their recently released 7″ is dreampop at its height—beautiful and shimmery, prone to pitch-shifted breakdowns and full of vibrations and peaking heights. It has an element of The Cocteau Twins and a little Oneohtrix Point Never, and the Spanish vocals add to its mystery, making Desert's releases feel expansive and warm, but futuristic and off-kilter as well.

This track comes from a 7″ out now, and will be followed up with Desert's debut EP on Minty Fresh. A host of remixes of the tracks are popping up, the first of which comes from Marc Piñol and can be streamed here.
