Digital Leather and The Hussy form TIT

Post Author:

Shawn Foree of Digital Leather excels in tormented and depraved post punk that scowls and drags its knuckles through the Midwest plains of Omaha. Bobby Hussy of The Hussy exists in an alternate reality from the frigid north of Madison, Wisconsin. The Hussy sustain a trashy lo-fi quality that garners Thee Oh Sees comparisons as they’ve thrown psyched-out shitfits over a dozen slabs of varying sizes of vinyl. Earlier this year Digital Leather and The Hussy had a split meeting of the minds on the False Trails/Hash Grails 12″, which leads us to the TIT 12″—the collaborative release written by Foree and Hussy.

TIT take the ruinous rapture of the False Trails/Hash Grails 12″ into murky depths where synth punk and post-punk become salient in the same slime. With Foree joining The Hussy band for the aforementioned 12″, the TIT project feels like Bobby Hussy submitting to the throes of Foree’s Digital Leather leanings. Opener “Leaves On Fire” seances the digital unknown with a wired and warped sci-fi outro of fucked transmissions that crash and caterwaul through the speakers. The vocals are deadpan to magnify the instinctual coitus described in “On Your Side”, which reduces sex to the functionality of bees. As TIT, Foree and Hussy are brazen mad scientists—offsetting any misinterpretations of ego tripping by undercutting the cool with new wave lampoons.

The TIT 12″ is out now on Volar Records/FDH Records.
