Goldlink ft. Ciscero, “Fall In Love”

DMV artist GoldLink etched his name into hip-hop consciousness with last year’s And After That, We Didn’t Talk album, a vibrant, eclectic debut. He’s been relatively silent for the bulk of 2016, but he’s back with “Fall in Love,” a dreamy number co-produced by producers of the moment Kaytranada and BadBadNotGood.

“Fall In Love” is the sonic powerhouse one would expect from a collaboration of the Canadian soundscapers, with lush instrumentation and crispy, sophisticated drumwork. GoldLink matches the whirring, enchanting synths with an irresistible, earnest chorus, stamping the track as a feel-good earworm nestling in between late 90s-early 2000s R&B and modern electro.

Over the upbeat, buoyant production, GoldLink tells the story of the reticence that so often keeps love from blooming. He’s the “nigga wit’ a neck tat,” unleashing his sing-songy delivery with a polish. Rapper Ciscero grabs the baton from GoldLink and delivers his own captivating, rapid-fire rhyme that took the song to another level.

Even if it’s not an unlikely comeback record for G-Unit records, one can love “Fall In Love” just the same. You can listen below.
