Legendary Wings, “Use”

Readying their second album for Dirtnap Records, Legendary Wings return with the clenched fist pumping sound from Kalamazoo, premiering the PA-busting ‘give me something /give me anything’ blues “Use”. With name taken from a 1986 arcade game, they follow up their first album Making Paper Roses with the forthcoming, Do You See full-length November 11 on Dirtnap.

The creative guitar wielding minds from Legendary Wings masterminds—call-signs Jeff The Snake and Scott Terrian—turn the volume up louder than their 2012 debut for thundering note to jolt through to next year.

On “Use”, Legendary Wings co-opt every trick in the rock and roll handbook to build a towering pillar of earth, and sky rattling tension. The Kalamazoo crew forge iron and steel with every struck electric string and the chorus pleas to get a little more to work with like, “just give me something that I can use.” Floor toms egg on the guitar’s bad reputation riffs that dwarf the garage rafters and dive venue rooms that can barely contain the ever-expanding builds and rumbling amp billows that “Use” utilizes to maximum effect. The desperate, harmonic delivery howl stirs the stakes up to the level of dire necessity that Legendary Wings send in their own roaring self-designed sound marquees flying high in the sky, hoisted and carried up in flight by their own mighty wings—and talons of fury.

Legendary Wings’ new album Do You See will be available November 11 from Dirtnap Records.
