Lilac Daze, “Future Unknown”

Post Author:

Frederick, Maryland’s heavy hitting three piece Lilac Daze – comprised of Evan Braswell (guitar/vocals), Patt Kotrady (bass/vocals), and Matt Henry (drums/vocals) – is bringing the thunder with their new stuff. With a couple of EPs already under their belt and full-blown US tours to speak of in the last few years, they are out to dazzle the world with their first full-length self-titled release this fall. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of a song with a title that endears us from the start (due, in part, to our outlook on life at present), “Future Unknown”.

Lilac Daze hits heavy with electric guitar and percussion coupled perfectly to play as backup to Kotrady’s ethereal vocals to start. It’s almost too heavy of an instrumental with her light as a feather voice, but then they switch up the sound for the yell/sing punk set of lyrics, which spins the song almost in an entirely different direction. It’s pop and punk and garage rock all in one. (Two separate people who listened to this song at different times were under the impression that they could easily place this song in a movie like 10 Things I Hate About You, if that personifies it for anyone at all.) “Future Unknown” is catchy and fun, which puts us all at ease in the waning sunshine of summertime.

Lilac Daze’s Self-Titled CD with Bonus Flexi Disc is out October 14th via Black Numbers. It is available for preorder now.
