Mr. Byrd, "Steel Cold Train"

Post Author: Mike Mehalick

Most of us have had the thought after getting our hearts smashed into a million tiny shards and stomped on. What if I just pick up and catch the next train/bus/plane and leave it all behind? Start fresh!
Such was the case for Nashville-based musician Jeremy Byrd who is just now beginning to record under the moniker, Mr. Byrd. His debut Steel Cold Train EP finds him dusting himself off in more ways then one in the wake of a broken relationship and flamed out time spent in the major label engine with his sisters in the band The Bridges.
The title track is a delicate, pensive look into Byrd’s far flung fantasy like you see in the movies; pools of darkness illuminated by the Moon in the night sky while chasing down a running train and flinging your belongings and yourself into a car. All of this soundtracked by Byrd’s wistful acoustic picking, swelling strings and his sisters’ haunting harmonies.
“I could never really understand why I was writing this song, perhaps it was fun to imagine myself running from everybody else – maybe – cause I had to – because after all – I really was dangerous, mad, and deserving of a life on the outside. Perhaps, everyone feels like this sometimes.”

Steel Cold Train is out June 9th via self-release. Follow Mr. Byrd here for more.
