面多, “晩秋” (Multi-surface, “Late Autumn”)

Well, it finally happened. The winter chill entered the East Coast and all of a sudden, scarves are everywhere and mittens are needed and we're losing a sense of ourselves, which is exactly what winter should inspire. This tape, released by Patient Sounds, is 32 minutes of getting you through that time with either ease or accompaniment with both sad and wistful qualities. Japanese artist Tomokazu Fujimoto, who records under the moniker Multi-surface (or 面多 for our Japanese brethren), has created a spectral, enigmatc release of experimental tones for burrowing beneath the covers and thinking long thoughts. It's absolutely spacially gorgeous and compelling. Appropriately enough, the recordings are titled Late Autumn, and although the cold has us convinced it's winter, we're finding this fits the bill exactly for where our seasons lie.
