Mumblr, “Got It”

Philly four-piece Mumblr has just released another banger from their upcoming album, Full of Snakes. Clocking in at two-and-a-half minutes, the new single is a bit toned-down compared with the previously-released “Roach“, but with a hook that will leave you wanting to hit repeat. Singer Nick Morrison explains that “Got It” is about “being a strange, confused young man; feigning confidence and asking people to take him as he is.” But nothing about the track seems remotely feigned—the lyrics are brutally honest and the simple instrumentation isn’t concealing anything. It starts out sparse with just Morrison’s vocals over a clean guitar track as he croons about being “born strange,” but when the drums pick up the song blooms into a full-fledged, insistent plea for recognition. Morrison seems to bare it all here, and his desperation is apparent in his voice, which surges with sincerity as he repeats, “I got it if you want it.” Indeed, he’s got it.

Mumblr’s debut full-length album, Full of Snakes, comes out September 16 on Fleeting Youth Records. You can stream “Got It” below.
