Napolian, “Road To Incursio”

Leaders of the altered perception of IDM, trap, and the vaporous traces of the inbetween, Software are making a visionary push in 2014 and that force cares little for waiting on us to tag along. This year the label helmed by Daniel Lopatin introduced Thug Entrancer, Sculpture, and Suicideyear as his rookie class, while maintaining relations with Slava and Napolian. But, as Ice Cube famously said, “oh, it ain’t over motherfuckers.”

This week’s Friday Night mix functions as the official debut of Software’s own mix series, entitled Mixware. The series will be controlled entirely by Software artists with intention of free form exploration of the label’s discography, from the new and old to the remixed and edited, and even some unreleased archives. Oh, and each edition will be released on limited-run cassette. To christen the series Napolian crafted “Road to Incursio”, a 32-track mammoth that showcases his Renaissance crew and their edits to his boss’ originals. Whether this is your introduction to Napolian or a deeper glimpse into his closest cohorts, like Tairiq and Garfield or Dro Carey, or a crash course in Oneohtrix Point Never’s investments, “Road to Incursio” will be an eye opening journey through the fertile terrain of Software Recordings.
