Palehound, “Holiest”

After burning holes in our Bent Nail tapes and pressing play on SoundCloud for just “one more fix,” we can't describe the relief that comes with a new Palehound single. After landing a spot on our top ten best albums of 2013 (despite it being an EP—a real coup!), Palehound's Bent Nail EP came with the fear of overplaying into oblivion, a fear that was never realized, due entirely to its easter-egg-style discovery. On each play through, some new feeling or thought would arise. “Holiest”, the new track in question, is a place where Kempner really shines and showcases her proficient guitar skill, all while playing a delicate balancing act with her bandmates, who are now perfectly wrapped up in the Palehound name. “Holiest” exhibits Kempner's vocals at their softest and most pleading, and a tambourine that shakes almost shatters the bubble of sensitivity. If songs were like animals, “Holiest” would be a kitten discovering a string.

You can stream “Holiest” below, and preorder the Kitchen 7″ that it comes from through Exploding In Sound Records. Palehound will be hitting the road come Friday—all dates are listed below the embed.
