Perfect Families, “Ghostcalls”

Post Author:

Following their full-length release in 2015, Seattle dream pop duo Perfect Families – comprised of brothers Micah and Joel Smith – is set to release several singles in 2016. (Hi. Did you see the awkward family photo? It’s a commentary on familial relations in itself.) “Ghostcalls” is the first of this string of singles – all set to lead up to the release of their upcoming EP in 2017 –  and we’ve got your first listen right here.

Melancholic in nature, the song is beautifully composed, with classic instrumentals that the vocals allow themselves to cruise over serenely. Rooted in an electronic, 80’s influenced sound, it’s ethereal in nature. The lyrics are bittersweet, filled with hope as observed in lines like “don’t forget to write me once you leave.” It’s a dream wrapped in a flurry of sound, and we’re big fans.
