Premiere: Secret Colours, “Freak”

To initially dispel any confusion, there is another band called Secret Colors that we told you about last week. But consider this: with the psychedelic leanings and easy 60s nature of the Secret Colours with a “u,” there should be no issue distinguishing the two from each other. Secret Colours sounds like they've emerged from a cloudy, multicolored fog in the fields and meadows of midland England, where the girls are groovy and the love is free. The first single from their upcoming record, Peach, is called “Freak” and it follows a path from slow-building, elementally-based rock music that is soft around the edges to full-blow psych-out. As the frontman asks-not-pleads, “I wanna be your friend,” we know that these tunes are based in the need to love, not hate.

Their album, Peach, releases on May 28 here and you can catch the group on the road below.
