The Clydes, "Broken Boy"

Although NJ-based rockers The Clydes have been on the scene since around the turn of this decade, their story is one that stretches back a lifetime. Led by brothers Brent (lead vox, rhythm guitars, keys) and Brian Johnson (lead guitars, keyboards, effects) and joined by Andrew Lord Chandler (bass, keys, backing vox) and MadMardigan (drums, backing vox), the band has played with myriad styles and influences but has never pulled together quite as cohesive vision as crafted on their forthcoming LP, So The Story Goes, out October 20th via Mint 400 Records.
Today, Impose Magazine is happy to host the exclusive premiere of the album’s latest single, “Broken Boy.” The track rides on a beautifully buoyant backbeat as the lead and rhythym guitar lines weave like sun-kissed streams. On “Broken Boy,” The Clydes artfully juxtapose warmth in melody with hitting rock bottom as they explain:
“This is a song we wrote around Christmas time last year. Brian, our guitarist, was in the mood to look at holiday lights. And when he came home, this is the first thing he played. Brent, our lead singer, added the chorus, and the lyrics ended up being about feeling broken and crumbled on the ground — but reaching for redemption and believing someone might be out there that can help you. It’s the opening track on the new album.”
