Tobacco gets Beck to be in his new video

Derek Evers

I mean, this is cool, but wouldn't a guest spot by Aerosmith been cooler?

Our friend Allen Cordell has been climbing the video ranks for the past few years. You might remember his introduction via Dan Deacon's “Big Big Big Big” video, or Team Robespierre's “88th Precinct” vid. The past few weeks however, he's upped his game. Last week he dropped the official video for Beach House's “Walk in the Park” and now this week he's bringing Tobacco and Beck together onscreen.

Actually, they don't make an appearance, but Beck is a guest on the track “Grape Aerosmith.” Of the chance encounter (Beck is actually on his Maniac Meat album twice), Tobacco said that the duo “Worked long
distance — Beck wrote his own lyrics and did his own vocal treatments. I
didn't give him any direction.”

As for Cordell's talents, well, this just gives him a bigger platform to put his crazy psychedelic imagery to good use. If you love drugs and hate work, this video is probably going to blow your mind.
