Wake Island, "The Dancer"

Post Author: Kat Harding

Though you’d think they’d be local to the eclectic and mysterious Brooklyn, Wake Island is in fact, not, and is the electronic duo from Montreal/Beirut. With Philippe Manasseh on vocals and synth and Nadim Maghzal on guitar and commanding drum machines, the Lebanese duo have put forth an obviously dance-worthy track we’re premiering right here with “The Dancer.”
The five-minute long track has the best of dark, synth-fueled, club tracks with whispered lyrics over high-energy beats. While it seems like the world is getting smaller and smaller Philippe and Nadim have cracked it open again and given us a truly one-of-a-kind track to put on in the background of all upcoming parties. The duo has toured with the likes of Suuns, Neon Indian, Cloud Nothings, Wintersleep, and more, and we can’t wait to catch them out on the road again.
Let them guide your late-at-night expeditions with the first single off their Sentimental Animals EP. “Do you think you could do better?” they ask. And no, we don’t think we could; this dance track should be at the top of all our playlists.

Keep up with Wake Island here.
