William Matheny is a West Virginian country/folk singer/songwriter who lives on the fringes of a genre. “29 Candles” is a spectacular display of craftsmanship, leading into his debut album, Strange Constellations. Being released through Misra Records on February 24th, Matheny’s music is a furious blend of alt-country rock with all the storytelling mastery you would expect.
Having spent most of his time in a supporting role for Athens, Ohio, indie band Southeast Engine, his forthcoming 11-track album was a challenging change of pace. When Matheny discovered his interests were turning in a different direction, he quickly found inspiration for his own works.
