February 28, 2017 – Los Angeles, CA – LA’s monthly Emo Nite event has already had an astonishing 2017 and the team behind it all show no signs of slowing down. All three floors of New York City’s legendary Webster Hall will be taken over on May 4th, 2017 which will include surprises at every turn. This is part of a larger announcement of tour dates through May that include new cities like Palm Springs and Louisville. This trio of founders (Babs Szabo, Morgan Freed and T.J. Petracca) continues to push the envelope with their creativity, design and all out hustle to make the best events around while challenging themselves to up the ante of previous successes. Most recently, Emo Nite returned home for the first LA event in 2017, back at The Echo and Echoplex on Tuesday February 7th. As always, there were a handful of special guests that DJ’d and performed live sets for fans, but most notable was the epic first performance in 11 years by From First to Last, fronted by singer Sonny Moore, also known as EDM artist Skrillex. The band’s set list included the first live performance of newly released single “Make War” as well as huge hits like “Emily” and “Note to Self.” Check out a video of the performance, here. This event was heralded in publications like Rolling Stone, Billboard, Pitchfork, SPIN, Noisey and KERRANG! as well as talked about on the Grammy’s Red Carpet. Additional guests included Machine Gun Kelly, Hawthorne Heights and Secondhand Serenade.
Heralded by LA Times, Forbes, LA Weekly, Time Out LA, Billboard, Rolling Stone, Nasty Gal and more, Emo Nite is a monthly event that brings together people who share the love of emo rock music from the 90’s, 2000’s, and today. Different notable musicians from the scene have either DJ’d or performed at the event. Additionally, the Emo Nite team creates themed events and truly transforms the environment they are in. They had a country band take over and learn emo songs after taking part in a not-so-traditional western shoot out. See also a mariachi edition of “Sugar We’re Going Down and an acapella-accompanied montage of the beauty that is Emo Nite. Founder Morgan Freed said he is “personally inspired by stuff we see everyday so we just apply that to Emo Nite”
Emo Nite recently celebrated their two-year anniversary with over 2,000 attendees and nearly 100,000 viewers around the world via IHEARTCOMIX live stream event, ‘Streamo Nite.’ For a look into the last two years, check out this video. A monthly Emo Nite attendee shared, “This is the first time probably in my life that I have felt accepted genuinely for who I am and found people that helped me come into my own as a human being instead of doing this job or looking this way because it’s cool or not cool. It’s not something that I will ever forget….Emo Nite takes the saddest years of your life and makes it into the happiest night of your life.”
