Julia Holter has been on a roll. She dropped an album a year from 2011-2013. After the release of her most recent record, Loud City Song, Holter broke the trend and spent all of 2014 touring and recording her newest album, Have You In My Wilderness. It’ll be her second full length out on Domino Records and her first with producer Cole Greif-Neill (of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti and Beck fame). The Los Angeles musician has been compared to everyone from Grouper to Kate Bush. Regardless of who one wants to compare Holter to one thing remains very clear, that’s that her music continues to embody a warm and unabashed sentiment, never shying away from more challenging arrangements and diverse instrumentation.

Holter has just released a video for the song “Feel You”, the opening track from Have You In My Wilderness. Watching the video, it shouldn’t seem strange that this album has been described as her most personal and raw venture yet. The video focuses on Holter in various settings, be it sitting in the dirt with her dog, cuddling on the couch with her dog, running in the forest behind her dog, or just kneeling down in front of a door petting her dog. Dogs make everything better, but it’s not just the dog, it’s the intimacy. There’s a soft and extremely visible camaraderie between the two, that visually gives you the feeling that you’re kind of peering into them as entities.

Have You In My Wilderness is out on September 4. The video for “Feel You” is streaming below.
