Screaming females are something most people tend to avoid. Nevertheless, Marissa Paternoster of the band Screaming Females unleashed a track under the name Noun that requires absolutely no evasion. “The Weekend” is a reissued track, previously released in 2008, from her tape Forgotten Grin.
“The Weekend” is a jovial jam that frisks and ricochets off the walls. It's hard not to say that this track is reminiscent of some of the Pixies' finest hits. The drums are crunchy, resonant, and sturdy while the bass and guitar twist and corkscrew. Paternoster's endearing vocals are cheeky, inflated, and a touch dissonant, making for a track that is both vigorous and absorbing.
