The deceased inventor of the world-famous digital synthesizer the Moog, Robert “Bob” Moog, will be given his proper regards in a ceremony honoring him and several other inventors in this year's Inventors Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The first Moog was introduced in 1964 under the premise of it being a “complete voltage controlled modular synthesizer, an instrument capable of producing a wide variety of electronic sounds” and has since gone on to be a go-to acquisition for any and all aspiring electronic musicians. The Moog has inspired almost every genre over the years, and has played a heavy role in albums by The Byrds, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and of course, in our developing digital world, for those who can afford one, the likes of El-P to Divine Fits to James Murphy, and the list goes on. The induction ceremony for Mr. Moog will be held on May 1 at the US Patent Office Headquarters in Virginia.

One of the cooler projects that has been helmed by the Moog company is the Moog Sound Lab, where musicians who are active in the electronic world reinterpret some of their songs on Moogs. The video below captures Zola Jesus with a thrilling version of the song “In Your Nature” from her record Conatus. R.I.P. Bob Moog and congrats on the nomination.
