The Duchess & The Duke to Reunite, Tour

Beloved Seattle duo The Duchess & The Duke are reuniting.

After releasing She’s the Duchess, He’s the Duke in 2008 and Sunset/Sunrise a year later on Hardly Art, Jesse Loritz and Kimberly Morrison surprisingly decided to call it quits in 2010. We were sad for a while and then, inevitably, we forgot about them save for the occasional memory jog that caused us to put on “Reservoir Park” or “I Am Just A Ghost” or whichever other song and remember the good old days when we took for granted the duo’s gorgeous harmonies and heartbreaking-yet-uplifting songwriting.

So just as surprising as their breakup announcement is their announcement that, out of nowhere, they are reuniting. Well … not out of nowhere; Loritz and Morrison recently performed together at the Doe Bay Music Festival in the San Juan Islands, and on July 9 they played an intimate, sold-out show in Seattle. But the reunion is official now, it seems, and to celebrate The D&D have also announced performances at Chicago’s Empty Bottle and Milwaukee’s Cactus Club on August 27 and 28, respectively. Get excited. More is sure to come.
