Worriers, Imaginary Life

“Sometimes silence is a loaded gun,” sings Lauren Denitzio of Brooklyn’s Worriers on “Yes All Cops”, a single off their upcoming LP Imaginary Life on Don Giovanni Records. Over the past few months, Worriers have released tracks from the highly-anticipated followup to 2013’s Cruel Optimist that signal their stern refusal of silence. On their first single “They / Them / Theirs”, Denitzio bemoans outside pressure to find a label for oneself, especially when sometimes fixed identities promise no real meaning or salvation. The entire album is now streaming on NPR Music ahead of its August 7 release. Produced by Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace, the album features signature elements of Worriers’ smart, nuanced songwriting and pop-punk sensibility, while sounding more confident and eager to deliver its message.
