Pains of Being Boring at Heart still make really pretty songs

While Jay Reatard may be guilty for making jokes that befit a fourth grader putting down his little sister, it's been hard to shake his unsolicited dis tweets from our brains, and we find ourselves transferring this clever insult formula to all kinds of unexpected scenarios. Looks like someone's having Frosted Boring Wheats for breakfast. New Beatles remasters? More like Let It Be... Boring, etc. And for their latest EP, dropping at the end of the month on Slumberland, looks like Pains of Being Boring at Heart are topping all their past boringness by calling it Higher Than The Stars (borring) and spinning a shiny pop gem out of the title track that's as effortlessly sweet as it is perfectly constructed.
